Introduction

LoggerCAN is a compact USB CAN logger designed for high-speed data acquisition in automotive diagnostics and industrial monitoring. With dual CAN bus support, it enables simultaneous logging at rates up to 1kHz, capturing all messages available on the CAN bus without the need for complex configuration tools.

Difference to other loggers is that ALL messages are logged which is available in the CAN bus. Therefore, all data is recorded and available on the USB disk. Final channels are then created in post processing by using the standard DBC file you want. Advantage is that there are no configuration tools needed, you can create the new output log file with an other DBC file and process the missing channels.

Data from both CAN buses are processed into one csv.

Hot swap is available and multiple USB disks can be used with the same device.

Data is stored to a Standard USB disk, up to 2TB. During the last 1743km test drive, total of 1.2GB of data was collected. All data from 500kB BMW PT-CAN was logged from CAN2 and 1MBit CAN1 data from GPSCAN MK2 @ 50Hz.

So, using 64GB card, the device can log 2 times around the world, over 90 000kms. In comparison, MoTeC C125 120MB logger was able to log only 175km using the same CAN traffic.

Conversion tool

Conversion tool and data viewer is a single file executable made with Python. The tool doesn't require any installation. Conversion tool can be copied into the USB disc and executed from there. This way everything is always in the USB disc, raw files, converted files etc...

Currently the tool performs the conversion, has a viewer for the data, lap time calculation, GPS track, min max avg std dev calculations. Viewer can show XY scatter, Histogram plots and time graphs.

Multiple files can be combined together during the conversion process.

Current conversion performance is > 32000 lines/s.
