NEW: GPSCAN MK2 - up to 50Hz GPS receiver
Our latest CAN based GPS receiver that is much more than simple GPS. It is used for testing trains, tires, cars, rally cars, race motorcycles etc...
Device can be equipped with any GPS receiver, even a receiver with an accurate L5 band is available.
Construction
Lightweight but still strong, made to anodized aluminum casing. Weatherproof since potted.
Other advantage is that the cheap antenna is separate and the receiver itself can be installed into a safe location.
Compatibility
Compatible with any CAN system, we have DBC file available to make install simple and fast.
MoTeC Compatibility
Plug & Play with all MoTeC devices, M1 ECU, displays, loggers etc...
Main Differences to GPSCAN
Feature | GPSCAN | GPSCAN MK2 |
GPS Pulse output | Yes | Yes |
NMEA Output | Yes | No |
MYLaps Emulation | No | Yes |
2D Output format | No | Yes |
Which output speed is right for me?
Few basic rules to select the right GPS for your application:
More satellites -> Better
For example: Typically, faster the output rate, less GPS systems are supported concurrently. Many 100Hz devices only support only GPS system at 100Hz, like ours. 100Hz is only available when only GPS system is enabled. This will effectively limit the number of satellites to less than 16. With 25Hz, over 40 satellites are typically available.
Faster output rate -> More noise in solution output
This is simply because 100Hz has less data to calculate the solution from, solution is calculated every 10ms. Compared to 25Hz, this is 4x less than 100Hz.
Below is unfiltered speed output for both 100Hz and 25Hz devices, note the noise in data shown in red:

In general, 100Hz is an overkill for normal use, 25Hz will give much better result.
As of 1.1.2025, 100Hz devices are replaced with GPSCAN MK2 50Hz. See the performance difference here
