
Yamaha R1 Stock Display Removal Project

Project Background
While back one Yamaha R1 race team contacted me if I can do a system to replace the stock R1 display unit with MoTeC C125. They shipped me a Yamaha R1 electronics in a box, the project was done on a work bench without the bike. It took few weeks to get it done and wasn't as easy as first thought. There were some nasty surprises along the way.
Needed items
- Stock or GYTR KIT ECU.
- Stock or GYTR KIT wiring harness.
- Any R1 compatible buttons can be used to control, even stock buttons work.
- MoTeC C125 display with I/O upgrade (needed for buttons). MoTeC Display Creator License is NOT needed!
Functionality
- PWR Mode, Lift control, SCS, QS, Engine brake can be changed directly from the buttons and the settings are shown in MoTeC C125 display.
- Current menu settings are stored in the display when powered off.
Harness modifications
No modifications are needed, all is needed to plug the module in and install the MoTeC display. Adapter module plugs into the stock display connector.
MoTeC C125 Wiring
Just wire the MoTeC C125 as normal from the 24pin JAE MX connector.
Extra Functions
- Oil Temperature can be added by replacing the level sensor with an oil temp sensor
- Fuel Level sensor is used to measure fuel level
